LinkedIn announced this week the release of its APIs and the launch of its "LinkedIn Platform", which will enable developers to integrate LinkedIn into their business applications and websites.

With this move, LinkedIn joins the list of media platforms, such as Google Wave, Facebook (which released its API in April), Salesforce, vying to be at the center of the social experience.

LinkedIn is the world's largest global professional network today, with over 50 million users.
